Guides · Rules that end accounts
A soft breach and a hard breach are different products
One ends the session. One ends the account. The homepage rarely leads with which is which.
A hard breach closes the programme. You are done, unless a reset fee is offered and you pay it. A soft breach stops you for the rest of the session, cancels orders, and lets you come back when the clock resets. Traders talk about both as ‘I hit drawdown’. The invoice is not the same.
Topstep’s daily loss, in the firm’s words
The daily-loss help article states the 50k, 100k and 150k figures, then says an objective violated during the session does not disqualify a trader from funding. The account is auto-liquidated until the next session, described as starting at 5:00 p.m. CT. The maximum loss limit is the line that ends the attempt. Filing the daily figure as if it were the maximum loss would make the Combine look stricter than the page, and ignoring it would hide a flatten.
