How to read Topstep when two help articles disagree

The maximum loss table is clear. The consistency percentage is not. A careful record keeps both.

Topstep’s maximum-loss article prints a table: 2,000, 3,000 and 4,500 dollars, and it says the limit trails, updates at the end of the day, and locks at the starting balance. That part can be filed. The consistency rule cannot be filed as a single number.

The conflict

The Trading Combine parameters page says your best single day should stay below 55% of your profit target. The consistency article says 50% of the profit target, prints 3,000, 6,000 and 9,000 dollar targets, and gives best-day recommendations under 1,500, 3,000 and 4,500 dollars. Both pages are the firm’s help centre. Choosing the friendlier number would be an editorial decision disguised as a fact.

The daily-loss article is a third document. It prints −1,000, −2,000 and −3,000 dollars and says breaking that objective does not disqualify you. It liquidates the session. That sentence is why the Combine records do not treat the daily figure as the hard percentage the matcher uses for ‘maximum daily loss’.
