Commissions can sit inside the profit target

On a futures combine the target is after simulated costs if the page says so. A forex spread can do the same job without being called a commission.

A 3,000 dollar futures target is not 3,000 dollars of favourable price movement if the firm’s simulated commissions and fees count against it. Topstep’s daily-loss article says the daily figure includes simulated commissions, fees, and both unrealized and realized results. The profit-target article we captured did not repeat that sentence. Assume the daily line includes costs, and go and read whether the target does too, rather than assuming they match.

On forex challenges the cost is often the spread and the commission per lot, taken out of the equity the loss rule watches. A target of 10% is harder after those costs than the headline suggests. The objectives page rarely prints an all-in example. Build one yourself with the calculator once you know the per-lot charge.
